Regardless of the strategy that is ultimately selected by our Congress and the Obama Administration to approach our two fronts in the Middle East, the fact that Senate and House Democrats and Republicans are concerned about the support of alliances like NATO to aid in our fight against terrorism should be viewed as encouraging. It seemed that throughout the Bush Administration little concern was payed to the thoughts of our allies by members of Congress and the White House. Unilateral actions that we chose to take in the past and failing to build up adequate coalitions to create a front that did not leave our military spread too thin were mistakes. It is my hope that Congressional leaders and President Obama continue to pursue the support of NATO as policy is chosen for the Middle East.
