New hope for border control legislation
Bipartisan support is key in the promotion of new legislation on border control. Members of both the House and the Senate are trying to work together on this issue and would like the President to be involved. Across the aisle negotiations are going to be important to the success of any agreements on this issue. Some Republicans are already expressing disliking the bill.

How about a nice fence and then amnesty? Remember the old adage, "Good fences make good neighbors?"
Yeah this should be interesting. At least this might be more possible, cooperation that is, because Bush is considered a little more moderate in terms of immigration.
I find it interesting that Speaker Pelosi won't act on this without at least 70 Republican ayes. Maybe now there will be some real compromise on immigration reform. Although, I think I would disagree with Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) in saying immigration reform is the nation's top domestic priority. It's actually the 3rd domestic priority among Americans under health care costs and the economy in general according to the Gallup Poll in April. It's number ten overall in a newly released CNN poll on all issues. Interesting move as we head towards 2008.
