Edwards exits presidential race

I believe it is really big that Edwards decided to drop out in the democratic race. Within the article is states with the two representatives who are left for the Democratic nomination, we have history in the making. I would have to agree with that statement. The fact that a female candidate now has a 50 percent chance of winning the presidential nomination has never been heard of before now. However, with Edwards dropping out it brings up the question on whether this really will hurt Clinton on more ways than help her. I believe there are many Americans who are not ready for a female president at this time and will then resort to voting for Obama just for the aspect. It will be interesting to see how this race will turn out in the voters votes and who the final nomination will go to.

If she should lose I don't know how much, based on this election, we may truly know whether or not the American electorate is "ready" for a woman president, because Hillary isn't just some woman candidate (former First Lady, a Clinton, 2 decades of being the heavily-scrutinized devil-woman on cable news networks, etc). Some voters might not be ready for Obama either, which may complicate the question.

Although there are many Americans who support Clinton and her views, I agree with you that that America is ready for a female president. One thing that has bothered me about this presidential race is the amount of other factors that are being looked at besides important issues such as our country's future economy and the current war situation. By other factors I am talking about Clinton being a female. Yes, this would be a huge step in American history if she were to be elected president, but at the same time I think that her gender has had too much to do with why she is doing so well against the other Democratic candidates. Personally, I could care less whether our president if female or male as long as he/she is competent in their responsibilites and confident that they can lead our country for the next four years.

Edwards dropping out of the race leads to the fact of now who to choose, both are not a typical canidates from what history has protrayed. How I see it being a woman, is that men have not done that great of job of doing anything in office, so why not a woman? As far as Obama goes, why not!? If we are suppose to be such a diverse country I dont see people having a problem with voting for either Obama or Hillary. They will just have to really look into which one is saying what, and then have to decide again. However I HIGHLY doubt that any of them will vote republican if they where going to vote for Edwards.
