House passes $819 billion stimulus bill

House passes stimulus bill, not a single Republican votes for the bill, 11 Democrats vote against the bill. Yet thanks to the changing of power in the House, the stimulus bill still passes.

Amazing that a bill could pass through the House without any GOP votes AND 11 Dem votes. It does show, however, that the GOP is flexing its muscles in preparation for a congressional resurgence.

If by the time of the 2010 mid-term elections there are signs of economic improvement/development, it will not play favorably for Republicans who will be painted as "playing politics." It seems to me they are going all in on the plan failing, hoping for a resurgence in Congress, and taking credit for "trying to prevent wasteful spending in an economic crisis." In addition, if we looked at the 11 Democrats who voted against the measure, I would not be surprised if they are Blue Dogs and represent rather conservative districts.
