Republican Suggests Moving GOP by Support Democrats

When Richard Hanna, a Republican member of Congress, told women at a pro-choice rally to donate to Democrats it wasn't quite like encouraging human sacrifice or arguing that dogs and cats should live together, but it was close.

Hanna:

I'll tell you this: Contribute your money to people who speak out on your behalf, because the other side -- my side -- has a lot of it. And you need to send your own message. You need to remind people that you vote, you matter, and that they can't succeed without your help.

Is this a courageous (or dare I say mavericky act) by Hanna? Or is this party treason? What does this incident tell us about Hanna or perhaps the nature representation more broadly?

I would think it should suggest one of two things. Hanna's seat is so safe that he can say or do anything and not be at risk or that he is planning on getting out of Dodge ASAP. Either way I would say yeah, it is a real courageous move and makes a lot more sense once I saw that he had co-sponsored the ERA. It might be fun to do some further research on his current situation back at home.
