Fundraising Shows Cantor’s Growing Clout Within GOP

Someone's arrived:

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor ’s monster first-quarter campaign finance report is no more remarkable for its impressive bottom line — $963,900 — than for what it says about his exploding share of Republican fundraising clout.

I find it interesting that Boehner's camp is now on the defense. This is a pristine example of the power of fundraising when taking into consideration leadership positions. Even the tone of the article shows that it is astonishing that Boehner was out raised by someone below him on the leadership todempole. Nearly one million dollars is quite an accomplishment in a time of decreasing Republican support. Perhaps in 2011, there will be a new House Minority Leader: Eric Cantor.
