For whatever reason, John Murtha seems to be unable to avoid scandal. Was it not in the 1970's when he was almost busted in an undercover sting operation for accepting bribes, but was later released due to lack of evidence? It seems to me that he has never been ashamed of being connected to money. It is no surprise that a member who chairs the defense subcommittee has ties to money. And how Rep. Isreal from New York now says he will end earmarks to "private companies" aka: defense contractors. Like the article said, "P" is for "power." And this is the same guy who ran for Speaker against Nancy Pelosi. What a field day this would be had he actually won that race.
