Dem Hopeful ask Pelosi to Step Down.

Brett Carter is running in the Tennessee 6th, a seat held by fellow Democrat Bart Gordon since 1984 but is solidly Republican, stated he feels Nancy Pelosi should step down and that he would not vote for her as Speaker. With her approval rating at a mindboggling 11% will more Dems throw her under the bus to get themselves elected?

This kind of news story upsets me. I personally do not know to much about Pelosi, but this candidate is just using her unpopularity among republican voters to get their nod for the seat, basically he is just manipulating the situation and in a sense turning his back on a fellow democrat, which ironically portrays how disloyal this candidate is...doesn't sound like a good person to vote for.

I find this interesting that he is not even in Congress and is already saying things that could cause massive problems with fellow democratic congress members. I like that point of him manipulating the situation. It does say a lot about his character and makes him less of a candidate to vote for.

I think it is important for a politician to be able to criticize other members of their party if they disagree with their decisions. If their reasoning behind their criticism is solid it shows they are not vulnerable to blindly following a party. It could also be simply that they are trying to appeal to opposing party constituency in criticizing their own members. What I thought was most interesting is that Carter's constituency is most interested in his vote on Pelosi than his actual qualifications. It's curious to me because this is either incredibly illogical or based on Chp. 3 of Hinich it would be interesting to look at the correlation between their preferences on this vote.
