Tea Party target Stupak
The "tea Party" might not be a political party such as the current DNC or RNC they never the less are playing a part in the moment of congress. Here is an example of a third party having an impact on the status quo. right after they "target" him he retires. Another casualty of the Health Care vote?

Sounds right to me.
I don't think it was the tea party that forced him out. What killed his chances was his conduct during the health care debate. The liberals were really upset that he held up the process insisting on very prohibitive language regarding abortion. The Pro-lifers, who considered Stupak a champion for their cause, were extremely dissapointed that in the final hour he struck a deal with Obama to interpret the abortion language to mean no federal money for abortion in return for his yes vote. On top of that Stupak is under investigation for failing to disclose substidized rental. Basically, a religious faction called "The Family" has a 1.2 million dollar townhouse which he rents a room for $600 a month, which includes maid and cook services and state of the art conferencing and communication and entertainment facilities. In the Washington DC on C Street this is far below fair market value. So someone is subsidizing him and he is not reporting it.
I am not surprised he dropped out.
