Bayh's had enough?

This article talks about the announcement that Sen. Bayh would not be seeking reelection, even though he would most likely win. It's interesting that his reason is the fact that there is increased partisanship in Congress. This certainly won't help the Democrats as they are going to be attempting to hold off a possible Republican surge in November.

I'm not sure I buy the "congress is too partisan" argument. When has it not been extremely partisan? Think back on pasts congresses. Republicans and Democrats just have opposing views and objectives so naturally they are constantly clashing.

Yeah, I agree with you. I think that after working in Congress for awhile, it just ends up being too exasperating. While it may not have bothered Bayh as much in the beginning, he's just had enough!

The whole partisan thing is just electioneering. Whenever a member of Congress says that I just hear an automated response that's supposed endear them to voters. Really, it's like they're pleading with the other side to throw them a piece of legislation or two. It's always, "grumble, grumble, grumble" with them. I understand it though, it's almost like a constant game of tug-of-war and unless you've resigned yourself to that, you end up like Bayh did.
