“Today, I'm happy to announce my full support and my endorsement of Governor Romney to be the next president of the United States." I just thought you all might be interested in this bit of information. Sen. Johnson said he wasn't intending on supporting anyone but was persuaded by Romney through various conversations they had had.

Reading this article it seems as if Johnson may have decided to run with this Romney endorsement due to the opportunity to lead the coordination between the Senate and the Romney campaign. Their ideologies do not seem to mash up very well seeing as Romney's record has been far less "slash spending," and much more centrist than Johnson's. Personally, I expected that Ron might endorse Santorum because Santorum has grabbed the Tea Party narrative for his Presidential campaign. Maybe it is just a sign of reconciliation amoung the factions in the Republican Party.
Guess I'm a little late to post on here, because I was thinking the same thing about the article. The party incumbents seem to be rallying around Romney here to try and end the primary, maybe partly to make Wisconsin seem more important to the party as we don't have enough electoral votes to have a large influence early in the Primary.
